Refugee crisis threatens European unity

The flood of refugees into Europe is putting the resources and infrastructure of individual European nations under major pressure. Leaders now begin to talk openly about suspending the free movement of people within the borders of Europe.

The Schengen agreement allows movement between 26 European nations, but now officials think it should be suspended for two years, while they figure out how to handle the refugees.

Germany’s leader, Andrea Merkel, also faces harsh criticism for her policies that allows the free flow of refugees into her nation. The clash of very different cultures that don’t seem to mix well also threatens the German coalition government’s future.

Europe is considered to play a significant role, according to some end-time teachers, but this development is certainly worth watching as it will have a major impact on the future of our world.
